Common Spaceship Layout

Common Spaceship Layout (v0.1)

Spaceships in the Expanse, for a number of reasons are built like tower blocks (i.e. the decks are stacked on top of each other). A central corridor shaft allows access to all decks with a hatch at each intersection.

Each oval represents an acceleration couch, typically the bridge of a spaceship would hold 2 couches for a pilot and navigator (co-pilot). Acceleration couches will be common on all decks but I got bored drawing them after 2 decks 8-).

Ships computer and access to any electronic warfare / communications equipment that the ship may have

Main airlock and cargo bay. Military ships may have security stations located here.

Crew quarters and galley

Military or advanced ships may have automated chambers for the treatment of injured crew

Only on Military ships. Torpedo room for the storage and firing of ship to ship torpedoes with Conventional or Nuclear Warheads

Engineering and any secondary airlock (to allow the ingress/egress of Repair Mechs for external ship repairs.

Reactor room is 1 big torus of a fusion reactor. The hole in the 'doughnut' has all the monitoring stations and acceleration couches. At the extreme corners of the torus allows crew to access the engine compartment (via ducts and access corridors).

Actual guts of the engines accessed via ducts and access corridors. Pipes, machinery, cramped quarters, aliens, the usual stuff found down here.
